Tracking Student Progress on a Lesson

How to record each student's progress against criteria during a lesson, the statuses available, and where progress is summarized.

Last updated 4 June 2026

With LVS you can track each student's progress against a set of criteria, lesson by lesson. Progress is recorded on individual lessons once a criteria set is linked to the class's program.

Open the lesson

  1. Go to Classes & Lessons and click the relevant class.
  2. Open the Lessons tab and click the lesson you want.
  3. Find the Attendance & progress section, which has two tabs: Attendance and Progress.

The lesson view also shows the lesson details — class, day and time, instructor, program, capacity, and lesson fee.

OBS! Attendance must be recorded for the lesson before progress can be tracked. Open the Attendance tab first — see Recording attendance for a lesson.

The Progress tab

The Progress tab shows a grid with attendees as rows and the linked criteria set's criteria as numbered columns. The numbers correspond to the criteria order; the full criteria list with titles and descriptions is shown below the grid for reference.

Each cell holds the student's status for that criterion:

StatusShown as
Not trackeda plus/dash (no status yet)
Working on it!a blue circle
Needs practicea red x
Completed!a green check

Clicking a cell opens a picker with the three statuses.

Update multiple

Use Update multiple to bulk-set a status for several students and/or criteria at once — handy when a whole group reaches the same milestone in one lesson.

How progress is stored

Progress statuses are recorded per lesson — each lesson stores its own statuses for its attendees.

A summary of a student's progress across lessons is available on the student's person card, giving an overview of where they stand on each criterion without opening individual lessons.
