Creating a Class

How to create a recurring swim class with a fixed schedule, location, instructor, and capacity.

Last updated 29 May 2026

A class is a recurring swim lesson that takes place at a fixed day and time — for example, every Monday at 10:10 in Amsterdam Bad 1. When you create a class, the system automatically generates individual lessons up to one year ahead and continues scheduling them after each lesson occurs.

Create a new class

  1. Go to Classes & Lessons
  2. Click + Create class (top right)
  3. Fill in the required fields:
FieldDescription
ProgramSelect the swim program (e.g. Diploma A). The lesson fee is inherited from the program.
FeePre-filled from the program. You can override it for this specific class.
Start dateThe date of the first lesson.
End dateLeave blank for an ongoing class. Fill in only if the class has a defined end date (e.g. a seasonal course).
DayThe day of the week the class recurs (Monday through Sunday).
Start time / End timeThe lesson time.
LocationSelect the pool or facility.
Fixed spotsMaximum number of students allowed in this class.
InstructorsSearch for and select one or more instructors.
Class nameA descriptive name. Click Generate to auto-create a name based on the fields above.
ColourA hex colour for display in the system.
  1. Click Save

The class now appears in the Classes & Lessons list, and all upcoming lessons are visible under the Lessons tab.

Automatic lesson scheduling

When you save a class, lessons are immediately added to the calendar for the next 12 months. After each lesson occurs, the next lesson is automatically scheduled — keeping the calendar filled a year ahead without any manual action.

Tip: If you need to cancel or modify a single upcoming lesson (e.g. due to a bank holiday), you can edit individual lessons from the Lessons tab. This does not affect the rest of the recurring schedule.

Class status indicators

In the class list, each class shows a coloured dot and a status badge:

  • Green dot + "X open spots" — the class has capacity available.
  • Orange dot + "Full" — all fixed spots are taken. As an administrator you can override this, but the system won't suggest to add students here.

Editing a class

Click the pencil icon next to any class in the list to edit its details. Changes to the class definition apply to all future lessons.
